As the new year gets started, it’s helpful to spend some time reflecting on how things have gone throughout the past year. I usually haul out my diary and check back to see what my goals for the year were – did I get some things right and others not? What about you? Did things go the way you planned, or did the year unfold in a completely unexpected way? Yep, that happens….
The world is a glorious patchwork of diverse people living lives that might be profoundly different from ours. It’s important to rally against the tendency to think about people as either ‘us’ or ‘them’ as it can be a slippery slope downhill from there.
The starring role in the book of your life is you……possibly with the same highs and lows as the hero or heroine who struggles against adversity, sometimes winning sometimes not. So what characters are you playing in your life story and do they still fit with who you are now?
Taking care of ourselves is an investment in our health and wellbeing. We are worth it, not in the L’Oréal way but in a deep, intrinsic human way. It’s important not to let ourselves down.
